The Rock and Goal Capital of the World
I was born in Manchester and I am proud to call myself a true Mancunian.
For me, Manchester is a fantastic city, offering all of the attractions of big city living with few of the downsides of high prices and congestion associated with London.
Manchester is famous for many things, for being the world's first modern city, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, the home of the world's first computer, and a breeding ground for some of the world's most celebrated music artists and performers, such as New Order, the Smiths and the Stone Roses. Its sporting heritage is legendary, being home to Manchester United Football Club and host of the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
After years of relative obscurity, suffering from the decline of Britain's industrial and manufacturing industries in the 1970s and 1980s, Manchester has been steadily making its mark on the European stage as a diverse, friendly and cosmopolitan city in which to live, work and to visit. It is regularly voted one of the best cities in Britain in which to start a new business, and is one of Britain's most creative cities.
Manchester also has one of Britain's best and liveliest gay scenes and plays host to the much celebrated Manchester Pride festival each August Bank Holiday.
